Its really important to get the strumming and chord changes right.

Intro and verses and chorus:

E - F#m7 - E
E - F#m7
E - F#m7 - E
E - F#m7

When it goes the 'shades go down', on 'down':

Asus7           F#7    Asus7  F#7
"Down its in her head, painted room" etc...

(make sure you pull off on the B string when changing to F#7 )

Chorus is the normal E - F#m7 - G progression.
After that go straight into the Asus7? - F#7 prgression 4 times,
then you'll hear on the A and D strings:

Then back into Asus7 - F#7 progression for "she holds the hand.."
On the "Rise above.." part, back into E - F#m7 - G progression and
softly into the chorus, then louder the last two times.

Outro is Asus7? - F#7 while singing "the shades go downnnn".
Play soft in the end and fade into this on the D string:
