Cem Karaca Was Not Forgotten Again on the 12th Anniversary of His Death

Master artist Cem Karaca was commemorated on the 12th anniversary of his death, with the participation of his artist friends, at Akatlar Cultural Center within the scope of the "Respect for Masters" night organized by Beşiktaş Municipality Culture and Art Platform. The unforgettable works of the master artist were performed in Gede.

On the anniversary of his death, his fans remembered the artist and shared his songs with the Cem Karaca Hashtag on social media. The artist's most shared song was "Bu Son Olsun".

Who is Cem Karaca

The master artist, who was born in Istanbul on April 5, 19452, as the child of an artist family, completed his secondary education at Robert College. His mother's aunt introduced him to music. Despite all his father's insistence (even hiring men for money and booing him), he did not give up on music.

He started his love of music with rock music, which was fashionable at the time. When he went to the military, he had the opportunity to get to know Anatolian culture and started to synthesize rock and folk songs in his songs.

With his first band, Apaşlar, he wrote hit songs such as "Emrah, Tears in the Picture, Bu Son Olsun". After the Alpaşlar group, he worked with groups such as Kardaşlar, Moğollar and Dervişan and produced unforgettable works.

The artist made his first solo album in his musical career with the album "Hasret", which consists of Nazım Hikmet's poems. However, the album was deemed objectionable during the September 12 period, causing Cem Karaca to live in exile abroad. After returning to the country, he continued his music career with the albums "Yiyin Efendiler" and "Where Did We Stay". He came to the fore in 1997 with "Ağır Roman"'s unforgettable soundtrack, "Tears in the Picture". In 1999, he released the album "Bindik Bir Alamete…". The artist, who performed with Barış Manço's band Kurtalan Ekspres in the 2000s, passed away in 2004 due to respiratory and heart failure.
